Mama Dog, who had just given birth, was thrown out of a van and was found to be covered in cigarette burns.

Upon discovery of Ruby, who was covered in cigarette burns and abandoned on the roadside, officers found that she was struggling to move due to her recent delivery. Nicknamed Ruby by the officers, this resilient canine was seen in the evening hours of July 11, following a dog walker in Leighton, Crewe. PCSO Lizzie Jolley of Cheshire Police commented, "Ruby was in an alarming state—trembling and struggling to move. It was evident that she had recently given birth to a litter of puppies." The kindhearted Neil stepped up to help Ruby, providing her with a collar and leash, and taking her on walks. The police then arranged a visit to the veterinarian the next morning. The vet's evaluation showed Ruby had head injuries and scars on her back. PCSO Jolley was thankful for Neil's kindness towards her. On Wednesday, July 12th the vets declared Ruby to be in good health and the police found her a home. Ruby did not have a microchip, and no one reported her missing. PCSO Jolley expressed her gratitude to Neil, the dog walker, and the staff at Nantwich Vets. She said, "All of you have been absolutely incredible! Knowing that Ruby is now in your care brings us relief as she is such a soul who should no longer suffer." The police investigation into Ruby's abandonment is ongoing and they are requesting any surveillance footage from the Queens Park Drive neighborhood.
